It's Not Willpower. It's Your Hormones

Why Hormones Matter More Than Willpower.

Let me be honest with you, it’s not always about willpower.
If you’ve ever had a week where everything felt easy… and then the next week you’re craving everything and feel completely off track, that’s not you “failing”.  That’s your hormones.
Your body is constantly responding to:
    ●    Stress
    ●    Sleep
    ●    Food choices
    ●    Your cycle
    ●    Your daily routine
And all of this directly affects your hunger, cravings, energy, and motivation.

The Key Hormones You Need to Understand:
You don’t need to overcomplicate this, just understand the basics. Insulin – Your Blood Sugar Regulator -this controls how your body handles sugar.
When you eat lots of refined carbs, especially on an empty stomach:
    ●    Blood sugar spikes
    ●    Then crashes
    ●    Then cravings hit
Coach note: This is why you feel like you “need something sweet” later.

Cortisol – Your Stress Hormone
This goes up when you’re stressed, tired, or overwhelmed.
In small amounts, it’s helpful. But when it’s constantly high:
    ●    Cravings increase
    ●    Fat loss becomes harder
    ●    Energy drops
Coach note: Stress management is just as important as food.

Oestrogen & Progesterone – Your Cycle Hormones
These naturally fluctuate during the month.
This can affect:
    ●    Hunger
    ●    Mood
    ●    Energy
    ●    Cravings
Coach note: Some days will feel easier than others,  and that’s normal.

Leptin & Ghrelin – Your Hunger Signals
 These controls:
    ●    Hunger (ghrelin)
    ●    Fullness (leptin)
Poor sleep + stress = disrupted signals.
 Result:
    ●    You feel hungrier
    ●    You don’t feel satisfied after eating

Thyroid Hormones – Your Metabolism
These regulate how efficiently your body burns energy.
When you:
    ●    Undereat
    ●    Overstress
    ●    Don’t recover properly
 Your metabolism can slow down.

Why This Matters
Once you understand this, everything changes.

  •  You stop blaming yourself
  •  You start understanding your body
  •  You make smarter choices instead of emotional ones

⸻ What I Tell My Clients:
You don’t need to fight your body, you need to work with it.
Because:

  •  Cravings are not weakness
  •  Low motivation is not failure
  •  Some weeks will feel harder than others

And that’s completely normal.

Final Note:
Your body is not working against you. It’s constantly sending you signals.
When you learn to understand those signals, everything becomes easier:
✔ Better food choices ✔ More consistency ✔ Less guilt ✔ More control.
